Here’s what’s changing on Twitter:

  • Replies: When you reply to a tweet, @names will no longer be considered in the 140-character count. So you’ll be able to have straight-forward conversations on Twitter without having to limit your words.
  • Media attachments: Once you attach photos, videos, polls, GIFs, videos, or quote Tweets, they will no longer count as characters. So  you’ve got more freedom of words in your Tweets!
  • Retweet and Quote Tweet yourself: By enabling the Retweet button on your own Tweets, you’ll have access to easily Retweet or Quote Tweet yourself when you want to share your thoughts and links with the world.
  • Say goodbye to @: These changes will help simplify the rules around Tweets that start with a username. So when you begin a new Tweet with a username, it’ll reach all your followers. So you won’t have to use the ”.@” convention, which people currently use to broadcast Tweets to a larger audience.
  • Replies: Followers will be able to see your replies, because you’ll be able to Retweet them to reach a broader audience.

When Are The Twitter Changes Happening?

These updates will be available over the coming months. So in the meantime, you’ll have to Tweet the old fashioned way – keeping it under the 140-character limit! But stay tuned, that’s all about to change very soon!
