We absolutely adore all our wonderful brand ambassadors including those that we haven’t gotten a chance to meet in person.  Kathryn from Mommy Kat and Kids is a wonderful addition to our team of top digital women, so here is our interview with her.

1. Tell us about you YOU! Your family, where you live, etc.

My name is Kathryn Lavallee and I am the happily married mother of two little boys: six-year-old Zackary and two and a half-year-old Benjamin. I live in a small town in the Qu’Appelle Valley in Saskatchewan, Canada and when I’m not outside exploring the wilderness with my boys, I’m online sharing my opinions on my blog Mommy Kat and Kids.

2. How long have you been blogging? When and Why did you start?

I’ve been blogging since January of 2010. I started shortly after the birth of my youngest son. I’d been writing features for a Saskatchewan-based magazine but trying to conduct interviews with a newborn was pretty difficult. I decided to start a blog and share information about amazing products and businesses that way instead!

3. What role does blogging play in your life; fun, extra income, main source of income, journaling, memories, etc.

Blogging is my business; it supports my family and I’m very proud to be able to say that I’ve reached that point. But blogging is also my life! I adore interacting online with my readers and for me, the most important role blogging plays in my life is that it gives me the chance to learn about the opinions of others by sharing my own.

4. What role has social media played in your life?

Social media has allowed this small-town woman to have one of the things that those in large cities sometimes take for granted: a connection to a large group of peers. What I love most about social media is that it has allowed me to build friendships with incredible women all across North America, something I never would have been able to do in my hometown of 1,800 people.

5. Tell us about your “Brand”.

I pride myself as a Mom “in the know,” so my brand really embraces that. Whether it’s a new local show or a hot new toy, chances are good that Mommy Kat and Kids has featured it on our site. But my brand is also about spreading positive energy, which is exactly what I try to do everywhere I go. As those that have met me can confirm, the bubbly and energetic vibe of my site is exactly what I’m like in person too!

6. How many SCCTO have you attend? Was the conference what you expected it to be? Why?

I haven’t yet had the pleasure of attending the SCCTO conferences, though I was invited to both. Travelling to Toronto takes a lot of planning when you live on the Prairies! But from what I heard, they were both an amazing chance to connect and form meaningful partnerships with brands; something I adore doing.

7. What was your favourite part of the conference? What was your favourite booth and why?

N/A (Though the Twitter parties are always amazing!)

8. What was your most memorable moment from SCCTO?

N/A

9. Did you continue your relationship on social media with other attendees? Brands?

It was by participating in an SCCTO Twitter Party that I first got the chance to connect with Jane’s Family Foods. I was honoured to help them introduce the new FlatJacks flavours and can’t wait to work with them again!

10. Why are you proud to be this year’s SCCTO Brand Ambassador? What are you looking forward to this year?

SCCTO exemplifies everything that I love most about blogging: learning, connecting and building relationships with amazing companies. I’m proud to be an ambassador to a conference that understand that both bloggers and brands have incredible worth to one another, and I can’t wait for the chance to connect with some of the amazing sponsors that are coming to show their support. And of course, the chance to meet some amazing new bloggers in person is going to be just as wonderful!Ba_mommykatandkids
