Many years ago, I worked for a company which was a supplier to McDonald’s Canada.  Each spring when McHappy Day rolled around different employees of the company volunteered to work behind the counter at McDonald’s.  Since then, we’ve always made a point to drop by and eat at McDonld’s on McHappy Day.

Now that we have children, McHappy Day has taken on a greater importance.  We always wanted to give back and help families of ill children.  But, now since we have three of our own children, we understand that the unexpected can happen so quickly and we could easily find ourselves with the shoe on the other foot.

The 19th annual McHappy Day is next week – May 2nd!

Visiting McDonald’s on McHappy Day, you will find the restaurant to be a buzz of activity.  The atmosphere in the restaurant is incredibly upbeat and you will find yourself caught up in the excitement of the day.

Give back on McHappy Day

Order a Big Mac, a Happy Meal, or a hot McCafe Beverage and McDonald’s donates $1.00 to local children’s charities like Ronald McDonald House.

Ronald McDonald House gives sick children what they need most – their families

I take comfort that we have a children’s hospital here in southwestern Ontario, I also take comfort that there is a Ronald McDonald House here.   Just last summer the home reopened to welcome families with twice as many bedrooms and extra common spaces.
Renovations and expansion of our local Ronald McDonald House are a tangible result of McHappy Day.

Help is close by when and if we ever need it, and for that reason we will find ourselves eating a McDonald’s on May 2nd.
